Block sets goals Brake named Dairy Princess
WASHINGTON, D.C. - “My
goal for this term as Secretary of
Agriculture is first to get President
Reagan’s economic package into
place, then to aid m insuring the
prosperity for agriculture that
should be a result of the trickle
down of that policy in the long
ran,” stated John Block at a
meeting bringing together
educators agriculture leaders and
USDA personnel to discuss ways in
which to implement more
agriculture education in the public
schools.
When questioned about his
Cabinet peers’ appreciation of
agriculture, he felt that with two of
them being farmers or ranchers,
and the rest businessmen who had
dealt with farmers, there was the
empathy and understanding
necessary to carry out meaningful
decisions and programs in the
future years.

milk per day, now. We can’t
continue to do that. Dairymen will
just have to cut back, and we’ll
work to open market op
portunities.”
