HOUSTON, Tex. - The Char
bray Committee of the Amencan-
International Charolais
Association held its spring meeting
at the F. Howard and Mary D.
Walsh Ranches at Aledo, Texas,
recently. The meeting was the
Charbray committee's first on
ranch committee meeting and
attracted over 70 breeders and
interested cattle producers.
The morning session of the
meetmg began with a welcome and
introduction of the ranch personnel
by Walsh General Manger, Lewis
H. Marshall. Marshall exhibited
various purebreds and crosses of
Charolais, Charbray and Brahman
cattle. Marshall said m breeding
high quality Charbray it was
important to begin with high
quality Charolais and Brahman or
Zebu cattle.
Lunch was a Texas style bar
becue and beans with plenty of

included J.W. Laycock of the
Texas State Department of Health
who briefly discussed the proposed
new statewide Brucellosis
eradication program.
Other speakers were Johnny
Joyce, a Brahman cattleman from
Sealy, Texas, Jim Link of the
Texas Christian University Ranch
Management School in Dallas and
Joe C. Paschal, Director of Breed
Improvement and Foreign
Marketing for AICA in Houston.
That afternoon the Charbray
Committee met to discuss a
proposed Classification Program
for their breed. No action was
taken during the meeting on the
program except to vote on ap
proval of the need for such a
program.
Other items discussed were the
initiation of a Charbray show in
Mercedes, Texas, in the spring of
1982 and the possibility of holding a
pull held
