John Atwell, deputy administrator of USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, said fhe Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act requires pesticides be registered for approved uses. It also requires that trials be conducted to determine their ef fectiveness without injury to the animals. Atwell said USDA is proposing Prolate be registered by the En vironmental Protection Agency as a dip at concentrations of 0.15 to 0.25 percent. Written comments may be submitted through June 29 to the deputy administrator for veterinary science, APHIS, U.S. Depart ment of Agriculture, 6505 Belcrest Rd., Hyattsville, Md. 20782.
