petting zoo
BAIR Thomasville 4-H club
members will participate in the 4-
H Petting Zoo being held today for
the York Hospital Fete at the York
Interstate Fairgrounds, 10 a.m. to
10 p.m.
Club members will provide a
calf, goat, lamb, duck, puppies,
and a rabbit. Additional animals
will be. supplied by 4-H’ers from
the Davidsburg Community Club.
Four-H’ers and their families
will attend Rural Life Sunday as a
group on May 24 at the Dover
United Church of Christ. Several
members of the club will be par
ticipating in the service.
County Council to meet
LANCASTER - The Lancaster A bowling party will be held at
4-H County Council is sponsoring Leisure Lanes Bowling Alley on

the Thomasville club attending the
Six-County 4-H Camp being held at
Camp Nawaka, near Biglerville,
June 9 to 12.
The next meeting of the club will
be held on May 26 at the York
County 4-H Center. Demon
strations will be presented by club
members.

Lefever joins friends
PENN STATE - Richard R.
Lefever, an attorney associated
with the law firm of McNees,
Wallace, and Nurick, Harrisburg,
has been "named a board member
of the newly organized Penn
sylvania Friends of 4-H to develop
new sources of financial support
for the state’s 4-H educational
program.
“About 6 percent of the state’s
youth, ages 8-19, are involved in
Extension Service 4-H programs
each year,” says Dr. James M.
Beattie, dean of Penn State

University’s College of
Agriculture. “There is the
potential to reach many more
young people in their develop
mental years with additional funds
from the private sector.”
Dr. Maurice Kramer, state 4-H
director at Penn State who will
administer the funds, notes that
the Pennsylvania Friends of 4-H
efforts may assist in expanding 4-H
volunteer involvement.
