Red and White
sale results
prove positive
LANCASTER When the gavel
fell for the last time at the 3rd
Annual International Red and
White Spring Sale, 78 bead had sold
for an average price of $lB7B.
Sale results, just released this
week for the Saturday, March 28
sale, report 5 milking animals and
47 open heifers and heifer calves
among the 78 sold. Also included
were 2 bulls and 24 bred heifers.
A total of 40 buyers took home
Red and Whites, with cattle going
to ten states including Arizona and
Wisconsin.
Top selling animal for the event
was Burket Falls Marette-Red-ET,
bringing $7500 on the bid of Larry
Moore, Suamico, Wisconsin, a
leading Red and White breeder.
Marette was a September calf
sired by the leading red factor sire,
Ca-Lill Standout Cavalier. Her
dam is a VG-87 Ivanhoe Star with
845 fat, second dam is EX-91 and
All-American.
Marette was bred and consigned
by David Burket, Burket Falls
Farm, East Freedom, Penn
sylvania.
Marette carries the distinction of
being one of the higher selling Red
and Whites at public auction in the
U.S.
Second high seller was a bred
heifer, Gran-De-Vue Sugar-Red-
Poll, sired by Thorland Majority
from a Very Good 30,000 pound
dam, selling at $5200. She was
consinged by Ken DeMunn and
magic

Wisconsin and was also purchased
by Larry Moore, Suamico,
Wisconsin.
Third high seller at 13600 was a
November calf, Stoltzdell Ideal
Joyce-Red, sired by Waddell
Bootmaker Pete, a popular plus
proven Bootmaker son. This calf
was consigned by a local Red and
White breeder, Elam K. Stoltzfus
of Morgantown, Pennsylvania.
Joyce-Red’s dam by Triple
Threat had just scored Very Good
prior to sale day. Buyer was Larry
Moore.
