people braved thunderstorms to
see Angie Sheaffer, 17, of
Biglerville selected as the 1981
Adams County Apple Queen
Saturday evening. She will be
crowned May 3 during the Apple
Blossom Sunday festivities which
will be held at the South Mountain
Fairgrounds
“Terrific. It just feels terrific ”
exclaimed Sheaffer on how it feels
to be the new country apple queen.
She had other reasons to be
happy because her younger sister,
Missy, was chosen the Second
Runner-up in the contest.
“When they named her as the
second runner-up, I was so happy I
could have just jumped up and
kissed her,” Angie said.
The five foot five, Biglerville
High School senior, noted that
among her favorite activities and
hobbies are sewing, reading,
crocheting, gardening, meeting
new people, spending time with
her family, being outdoors, ana
working on the farm

She has a lot of the latter because
she works on both grandparents’
farms as well as her father’s farm
Her chores include, “Just about
anything that has to be done from
slopping the hogs to picking the
fruit”
When asked during the contest
what she would do if selected to be
the county’s apple queen she an
swered, “I’d go to all the schools
and tell the children about apples
and how good they are for you and
then I go to fairs and before private
organizations and tell them about
the nutritional value of apples.
The brown eyed, brown hair
student plans to attend the
Southern Seminary Junior College
m Virginia, where she will major
in Business Management and
Merchandising. Her goal is to work
in an office where she will enjoy
her work and meet new people.
The First Runner-up was Laurie
Roth, 17, a student at Fairfield
High School, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs Philip Roth of Fairfield,
