penguin 9 Okay, we know it’s
“ruffled as a chicken.” But see if
you can figure out these mind
bogglers by replacing the bold
words with appropriate animals
Linus’ friends made fun of him
because he was afraid of almost
everything His friends calls him a
pigard behind his back because
they were as sly as salamanders.
This made Linus cry and cry and
cry
“I’m not a pigard,” he said
“Someday I’ll show them I’m
brave.” But just in case he ever
should meet up with danger, he
silently carried an elephant foot.
One night Linus was so unhappy
at what his friends said that in the
morning his voice was mule.
Well, that day Linus’ friends
came over to tease and taunt him
While they were playing in the
woods, they heard a noise m the
bushes. It was a long, low groaning
sound, like the sound a motorcycle
with about 60 mouse power would
make if it were off in the distance

But no one would go in because
they were all too cow to look
Poor Linus, unable to say a word
due to his buffalo throat, stepped
forward and walked slowly into the
bushes
Linus hadn’t bothered to tell his
friends that his cow Mable and her
new calf were behind the bushes
“Boy is he brave,” cried his
friends “But we thought he had
more duck sense than to go wan
dering into the bushes like that ”
Out Linus walked with Mable
and the calf and began laughing at
his friends
“That will teach you to call me a
pigard! ” he laughed
His friends, realizing how unfair
they had been, laughed too That
evening Linus invited all his
friends over for ice cream and they
all ate like turkeys.
