    D2B—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, April 11,1981
LOUISVILLE, KY -
Dates for the 1981 North
American International
Livestock Exposition
have been set for
November 7 to 21.
Harold Workman,
Manager of the NAILE,
confirmed the dates this
week and announced
that the exposition will
again take place at the
Kentucky Fair and
Exposition Center in
Louisville, Kentucky
The giant indoor facility
offers controlled
climate conditions for
livestock and spacious
quarters for the more
than 12,500 entries
which are expected this
year.
As the NAILE enters
its eighth year of con
tinuous operations,
more growth is
projected, says
Workman.
“We have already
become a show which
injects more than $25
million annually into the
Louisville economy and
early indications point
to an even bigger year
in 1981”, he said.
Workman explains
that the annual revenue
which is brought to the
Louisville-greater Jeff
erson County area is due
to motel occupancy,
food, tourist spending,
livestock sales, tran
sportation requirements
and other factors which
benefits the state of
Kentucky as a whole.
The NAILE is also
international in scope,
says Manager Work
man. Each year
livestock breeders from
nearly 15 countries visit
Louisville to compare
and purchase livestock
during the exposition
He notes the ex
position has become
popular with domestic
and international in
terest because it is an
all-bred livestock event.
Beef cattle, dairy cattle,
sheep, quarter horses
and swine are all
featured during the
expo’s two-week run of
events
The first quarter of
1981 has heerra tune for
planning according to
show officials. Most of
the livestock com
mittees which function
as a part of show
planning have met and
laid the groundwork for
November shows and
sales. Workman noted
that the NAILE’s
Executive Committee
has also been active in
its companion planning
capacity with
management.
“We’re already
assigning dates and
times to events”, said
Workman.
An early summary of
events slated to occur at
the North American
International Livestock
Exposition in November
include. 25 livestock
sales; 40 livestock
shows; the Great Lakes
Circuit Rodeo Finals: a
variety of education
and entertainment
features of children;
cooking schools for
adults; musical en
tertainment for all ages
and a Sale of Champions
