WEST CHESTER - The 1981
Annual Chester County seedling
tree sale will be held in 14 locations
around Chester County on April 17
and 18, Pownail Jones, Chairman
of the Chester County Con
servation District announced
Tuesday.
Trees are obtained and
distributed to civic organizations,
Jones said. The organizations use
the tree sales as a fund raising
activity as well as helping
residents aid the environment.
These trees can be used for wind
breaks, Christmas trees, land
scaping, wildlife protection,
erosion control and screening
around the homeowners property.
Varieties available will be Blue
Spruce, White Pine, Douglas Fir,
and Norway Spruce. A few
locations will have Austrian Pine
and Hemlock to provide sufficient
quantities for the demand.

until planted.
If trees are not to be planted
immediately, they may be heeled
into the ground. A shallow trench,
deep enough to cover the roots is
dug.
