Meet the Berks dairy princess contestants

WOMELSDORF Six young
ladies of Berks County are viemg
for the County Dairy Princess title
to be relinquished by Karen Sat
tazahn on April 25 at the Berks
County Agricultural Center,
Leesport
Competing this year are the
following girls.
Lon Ann Lesher, RI Bernville
Lon is the daughter of Mr and
Mrs. Harold Lesher and a senior at
Hamburg Area High School This
17 year old contestant is presently
the Secretary of her FFA chapter
and a member of Future Business
Leaders of America, Library Club
and Yearbook Staff at school and
also belongs to the Western Berks
4-H Club, Freidens Union Church
youth fellowship, Shartlesville
Grange, and Berks Junior Holstein
Club.

Betty Jean Hoch, R 3 Boyertown
Betty Jean is the 18 year old
daughter of Mr. and Mrs Elwood
Hoch and a senior at Oley Valley
High School. This young lady plans
to attend McCann School of
Business to study fashion mer
chandising.
She participates in track, and
was in the class play She attends
Vo-tech where she is studying
clothing textile
Betty Jean also works part-time
at a sandwich shop, and on her
parents farm every day, where
they milk 50 holstems.
Judy Malsbury, Rehrersburg is
the 19 year'old daughter of Mr. and
Mrs George Malsbury. She is a
graduate of Tuipehocken Area
High School and is presently at
tending Reading Area Community
College and is studying to become

Judy is a member of the Berks
County 4-H development board,
recipient of the Kiwanis out
standing youth award, a state
winner in 4-H food competition,
and works part-time as a seci etary
in the developmental studies
program, and is president of her
youth fellowship club The
Malsbury’s milk 65 holstems.
Jayne Malsbury, Rehrersburg,
is the 16 year old sister of Judy
Malsbury.
She is a junior at Tulpehocken
Area High School and plans to join
the Airforce after graduation
Jayne is a 4-H news reporter,
plays varsity tennis, and is the
youth fellowship treasurer.
Laura Lee Miller, Bernville.
This young lady is the 17 year old
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Miller, and is presently a senior at
Tuipehocken Area High School.
Laura plans to become a dairy
milk tester after graduation She
has served as chapter president of
the Tuipehocken FFA and is
county FFA Treasurer
She was Berks County PFA
representative to the youth con
ference, holds a keystone farmer
degree, is a member of her church
choir, and is also a member of the
Western Berks 4-H Club
Cheryl Adam, R 2 Hamburg is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
James Adam and a 1980 graduate
of Hamburg Area High School
This 19 year old contestant
presently is working at home with
the family dairy herd of 120
holstems
Cheryl is a 4-H leader, past
president of Hamburg FFA
chapter and past Fl* A county

She holds a Keystone Farmer
Degree and was a recipient of the
