was the guest speaker. He told
those present that Without
members, PFA is only a name.
He said, "that every farmer has
the ability to participate in their
government, from county to state.
He pointed out that last year,
agriculture had one ot the best
years in the General Assembly in
Harrisburg.’
One of the top issues was Milk
Security, 50 percent of the
Association s members are
dairymen.
Handlers went bankrupt and
farmers didn’t get paid. Act 104
was passed and now 85 percent of
milk produced in Pennsylvania is
covered.
A Bill passed on inheritance tax,
requiring the value of the land to
be based on the farmland value as
computed tor this Act and not on

was formed as a viable force for
Pennsylvania farm women to
speak up for farmers and present
their side on the cost of food
On Tuesday this organization
will again be speaking as members
meet for a business meeting at the
Hershey Lodge and Convention
Center, Hershey
Starting the day will be
registration at 9.30 followed by a
brief description of one member’s,
Ehtel Gross’, trip to Australia and
New Zealand.
At 10 - 30 Donald E Rosen from
Dupont will be speaking on
“People vs Tests.”
“He will be speaking on im
portant legislative things hap
pening at the state level in the way
of chemicals,” Gail McPherson,
Pennsylvania Agri-Women
president said
Over the noon luncheon, Dave
Poorbaugh of Poorbaugh Gram
will be speaking on, “Will the bulls
or the bears rule trade’ ”
“Landuse Dilema” has been
slated for the afternoon session.
Speaking will be William Conn,
senior planner of York County
Planning Commission

Penn’s Agri-Women are designed
to promote the interest of the farm.
The main interest of the
organization is to act as a public
relations firm or an advertising
agency for farmers; their
argument being that other multi
milhon ‘dollar businesses have
firms to help them
Penn’s Agri-Women’s
newsletters report that farm in
terests are so diversified that the
fanners haven’t been working
together as they should and could.
This organization intends to speak
out, and to work together to en
compass all phases of agriculture
and agri-business
The newsletter goes on to say
that as a state group, and part of a
national group (American Agn-
Women), members can better
understand some of the com
plexities of agriculture in Penn
sylvania by crossing commodity
lines and geographic boundaries
often found between farms, far
mers and farm organizations
To educate and to inform is as
always the main thrust of the
Penn’s Agn-Women’s meeting
