sylvania State Holstein Show &
Sale will be held April 1 and 2 at the
Farm Show Complex in
Harrisburg.
Twenty-three Pennsylvania bred
heifers which were entered two
years in advance will compete in
the First Annual Keystone Holstein
Futurity Show. The futurity
judging will begin April 1 at 6 30
p m. in the small arena.
Pennsylvania dairy farmers
should be commended for their
support of this show. About 100
families have entered 490 animals
in the competition. The state show
begins Apnl 2 at 4 p m. in the large
arena of the Farm Show Complex.
“Pennsylvania dairy farms are
always growing better,” State
Agriculture Secretary Penrose
Hallowell said.
Eight individual winners from
last year’s state spring show went
on to be named AU-Pennsylvama

Tests revealed that the 20
chickens on the farm contain high
levels ot PCBs and were killed The
chickens and the eggs they
produced were consumed only by
the occupants of the farm
Tests also revealed that the soil
contamination is ‘localized” and
does not appear to present a major
health hazard.
