Officials welcome Japanese
on Holstein buying trip

LITTLESTOWN -
Governor of Pennsylvania, the
Secretary of Agriculture, and
officials of the State Holstein
Association were on hand Tuesday
to honor members of a Japanese
cattle buying group.
The Japanese, representing
Japan Holstein Breeding Service
Company, Ltd and Nosawa, a
Japanese trading company
specializing in agriculture, were
touring the Umted States and
Canada in search of bulls to im
prove Japanese breeding stock
Visit several state farms
The ceremony took place at
Penn Gate Farm, R 2 Littlestown,
owned by Robert and Jean Gitt.
Earlier in the week, the
Japanese group also visited the
Lancaster County’s Sunny Craft
Farm, and Galen Crouse; Charles
Plushanski, Kutztown; Starbnght
Holstems, home of 31 Excellent
cows, Lester Poust; George
Bndenbaugh’s to see the Dunwood
Carmel cow, Windy Ridge Farm;
George Knight’s operation; and
another Littlestown dairy owned
by John Reinhart

Gitt, the cow's owner; and Bill Nichol and John Cope with the
Pennsylvania Holstein Association.
It was Penn Gate Wallie Skystar that brought Japanese
visitors to Penn Gate Farm in Adams County Tuesday. Not
quite four years old, this fine Holstein bull has 13 daughters
in the Gitt milking string.
