Berks County 4 held their
regular monthly meeting at the
home of Mrs Jean Waldo,
Boyertown, on Tuesday at 7 30
p.m.
Eleven members answered roll
call by naming a presidential
landmark or memorial All
members wore red for Valentines
Day
The Group is planning to have a
stand at the sidewalk sale in June.
Nancy Fullerton, R 3, Boyer
town, was accepted as a new
member.
Three members attended the
State Convention and Farm Show
January 12 and 13, in Harrisburg,
Pa. The members attending were
Mrs Verna Taylor, Mrs
Georgeanna Fullerton, and Mrs
Elsie Rothenberger
The Society By-laws were read
followed by a Valentine gift ex
change Several members
received birthday and anniversary
gifts from their secret pals
Members were urged to wear
green to the March meeting to be
held at the home of Mrs Lottie
Hildenbrand, Boyertown

Berks Farm Women 6 met at the
home of Mrs Steve Fisher, Oley
Mae Bleiler, Extension Home
Economist, from the Agricultural
Center, showed a slide presen
tation on 4-H projects and the
development program Mary Ann
Yanos from the Amity ville club
spoke on her different projects in 4-
H
Mrs David Freyberger, K 4
Reading, was a guest at the
meeting for the evening
By-laws were read by the
president, Mrs David Bauer
The ladies will be set ving at the
lefreshment stand at Oley on
February 28 and March 7
Group 6 will be celebrating then
15th Anniversary on Tuesday,
April 21 at Stahl’s Seafood and
Steak House, New Berlinville
Donations were given to the
National Head Injured Foun
dation, 4-H Development Fund,
American Heart Association, and
the March of Dimes
The next meeting will be at the
residence ot Mrs. David
Hauseman, Boyertown, R 4 on
Tuesday, March 17 A demon
stration on Tole painting will be the
program for the evening

a farm wife

lovely ladies who can pull oil
looking like a model while milking,
they give me a glorious case ot
insecurity
Frankly, when 1 come in the
house from helping with the barn
work, I usually look like something
the cat dragged in and forgot to
take back out
It’s an effect resulting trom the
manure-caked tail that slapped me
across the ear, the milk that
slopped out over the edge ot the
bucket that was too full, the call
who thinks my jeans pocket
resembles mother s feeding
system and the pressure pump that
backfired in my face when I
dropped it on the nozzle
Because such personal ap
pearance is par tor the course
twice a day, morning and evening,
1 regularly change my barn clothes
in the basement laundry i oom, just
behind our wreckreation room
And theie I stood one morning
last week, having just removed my
soggy, dirty barn jeans, with the
washing machine busy at work
right next to my elbow
Guess I’ll just toss these in with
the rest of the stuff, I thought, and
the denims slipped beneath the

And at that exact moment, a
strange male voice called out from
the outside door

posure, I spied the familiar face ot
our large appliance repairman He
comes regularly enough to
minister my electrical machinery
that he’s almost part ot tne family
Only this tune he was searching
tor the home ot one ot our em
ployees, and had come tor
directions
Through sheer luck, 1 could
shove the door shut and nab the
jeans from off the nail where they
hung. In ten seconds, 1 was
presentable.
How many times a week does
this happen to you' ’ I asked in
embarrassment 1 mean, I’d heard
stones about how repairmen are
always walking in on strange and
unexpected situations
Well, to tell you the truth, it s
the first time it s ever happened to
me,” he confessed, also looking
just a trifle embarrassed
