The estimated hide and offal value is based on current central un prices
and average by-product yields Allowances are made for condemnations
of all edible products, but processing costs are not considered. Therefore,
some differences may be evident between this estimate and the actual
return obtained by individual packers.
The value of hide and offal from the average 1,000 pound slaughter
steer for the week ending Feb 13, was estimated at $5.85 per 100 pound
live weight compared with $5.83 the previous week and $6.65 a year ago.
Note Hide weight trimmed fleshed and brine cured. Hide value con
verted to trimmed fleshed and brine cured return.
