Valentine square
FLEMINGTON, NJ. - An
afternoon and evening Valentine
Special Square Dance will be held
February 14, at the Hunterdon
County Extension Center, Route
31, Flenungton New Jersey
Six callers, Dick Jones of
Cahfon, NJ, Joe Fioretti of Island
Heights, NJ, Glenn Matthews of
Levittown, PA, Bob Gaunt of
Harmony, NJ, Jun Howatt of
Trenton, NJ and John Carlton of
Maguire Air Force Base will keep
the dancers moving m two halls
and on four levels of square dan
cing. The four levels of square
dancing are non-dancers or
beginners (people who have never
square danced), class level for
those who are currently taking
lessons or who have done some
dancing, mainstream and mam
stream plus.
All this will be intermingled with
line dances, line dance workshop,
easy round dances and a clogging
demonstration by the 4-H Hot
Foots of Burlington County-
Dancing will break at 5.30 for
supper, which is included in the
price of $3.00 advance ticket or
in commodity marketing

Both examples are tied to the
economics of marketing and
distribution studied by members m
the national 4-H commodity
marketing program, conducted by
the Cooperative Extension Ser
vice, and support by The Chicago
Board of Trade
Members learn that commodity
marketing involves everything,
from planting and harvesting a
raw product to storing and tran
sportation, to processing the raw
product for use as food, fiber or
other end products, to the mer
chandising and selling of the end
products.
4-H commodity marketing
programs are designed around
such widely diverse products as
the 4-H
in
dance planned
$3 50 at the door for teens and $4 00
advance or $4 50 at the door for
adults per person
The dance is aimed at teens,
young adults and square dancing
families. It is not necessary to
come in couples. Singles are
welcome Minimum age for non
dancers is 12 years old Square
dance attire is expected This is a
dress or skirt for girls and a long
sleeve shirt for boys. Please wear
soft soled shoes such as sneakers to
avoid making black heel marks on
the floor
The event is sponsored by the
Hunterdon Hayskahers 4-H Square
Dance Club. Square Dancers from
all over the state and neighboring
states are expected to attend.

4-H’ers learn lessons
clothing from a garment center to
consumer education, and from
silver and forest products to crop
and livestock production. Mem
bers learn the basic principles of a
free market system and how it
relates to commodities sold in cash
markets and traded in futures
markets of major commodity
exchanges, participate in
marketing activities which explam
the use of futures markets as a
management tool, share their
knowledge of market information
with other 4-H’ers and in project
activities, and explore career
opportunities in marketing and

held at the Hempfield High School.

Market Symposium in Chicago, 111.
Boys and girls, nine to 19, who
excel in the program are eligible
for awards, donated by Chicago

one 4-H’er from each state earns
an expense-paid trip to this year’s
