LITITZ Several
Keystone Farming Degree
winners’ biographies were
delivered to our offices after
the deadline date previously
disbursed. However, to give
fair credit to these
recipients, we would like to
tell you about them now.
All the Keystone Degree
winners were honored at the
Farm Show, Wednesday at
an award ceremony at the
Forum building. The degree,
awarded to the top 2.5
percent of the FFA members
in the state, goes to those
members who already hold
the greenhand and chapter
degree. They also must show
outstanding leadership skills
by serving as either chapter
officers or major committee
chairmen, and must have
satisfactory project par
ticipation.

DOUGLAS PFAUTZ
Warwick High School
Douglas Pfautz, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Gerald Pfautz of
Lititz, has served in the
Warwick FFA Chapter for
four years.
During these years Doug
has had projects in dairy

heifers, beef animals,
-tobacco, and swine breeding.
As past president of his
chapter, Doug has received
the Red Rose degree and a
Livestock Proficiency
award.
Doug says he is currently
working on his home farm as
part of the co-op program
through the ag program. He
is rebuilding a heifer and
beef operation. In the future
he hopes to expand this
project into a fulltime
operation and eventually
purchase a farm.
Doug’s other interests
include cars, motorcycles
and wildlife.
TED SHOTZBERGER
Warwick High School
Ted Shotzberger of Elm is
the son of Gary and Sandy
Shotzberger. He has been a
member of the Warwick
FFA Chapter for four years
Serving as vice president
of his chapter this year, Ted
has in past years, received
the Greenhand, Chapter
Farmer and the Red Rose
degrees
This year Ted has been
working with the co-op
program for Shotzberger’s
Equipment, John Deere in
Elm. His mam job is tractor
and snowmobile repair
Ted also enjoys working on
high performance cars and
traveling with his family on
horse showmanship and
sales ventures.
In the future he hopes to
become an agricultural
salesman

Keith Flicker, son of Mr &
Mrs. Kenneth Flicker, Box
85, Maxatawny, was the sth
member of the Kutztown
FFA Chapter to be awarded
the Keystone Farmer
Degree.
The degree was presented
at a special ceremony on
Wed., Jan. 14, during the PA
FFA Mid-winter convention
in the Forum of the State
Education Building in
Harrisburg.
Keith is a 1980 graduate of
Kutztown Area High School.

Chapter President in his
senior year at Kutztown

County Basketball tour
nament, the second place

Volleyball tournament,
placed second in the County
Project Contest, third in
County Parliamentary
Procedure, fourth in the
County Ag Mechanics
Contest and tenth in the Area
Ag Mechanics Contest.
Keith was the recipient of
the Proficiency Awards in
Ornamental Horticulture,
Ag Sales and Service,
Electrification, the Chapter
Leadership Award and the
Chapter DeKalb Award
Also active m sports, Keith
played on the high school
basketball team and was
captain of the Cross Country
Team and the Track and
Field Team.

Twin Valley Chapter in

exhibitor at many local fairs
as well as the Pennsylvania
Farm Show.

He has participated in
numerous dairy cattle
judging contests. In 1980 he
received first place in the
Berks County FFA Con
servation speaking contest,
and was second in both the
Eastern Pa. and Pa. state
conservation contest.
He has had several first
place project books in county
competition and received a
silver medal in state com
petition. In 1979 he attended
the National FFA Con
vention in Kansas City,
Missouri. In 1978 he received
the S.E. Pa. Ayrshire
Breeders Calf Award. He
has also been an enthusiastic
member of the chapter
parliamentary procedure
team and has been a leader
in developing several
chapter window exhibits
