honor Kimble
FARM SHOW - The
Pennsylvania Swine
Breeders Cooperative
showed their appreciation of
the efforts and support of
Robert Kimble, manager of
the Meat Animal Evaluation
Center at Penn State, by
presenting him with their
annual award during last
week’s Farm Show
The presentation was
made by Dennis Grumbine,
president of the Association.
Kimble has been working
at the Evaluation Center for
the past 14 years Prior to his
taking charge of the meat
evaluation, the Tioga County
native served as the Ex
tension Agent for Centre
County

“At the Meat Animal
Evaluation Center, the
Pennsylvania Department of
Agriculture works with
purebred breeders,
measuring their animals’
growth, feed conversion, fat
thickness and loin eye area,”
said Kimble “We are trying
to identify the genetically
superior meat animal
through these tests for beef,
sheep and swine ”
Kimble noted that in the
past few years, some of the
best animals in the history of
the Evaluation Center have
passed the test and gone on
the auction block
Kimble and wife, Garnetta
reside at R 5 Bellefonte,
Centre County

On January 28th, Hamilton Bank will once again help to support the
annual York County Corn Day at the York County 4-H Center near Bair.
LANCASTER - The
Pennsylvania Pork
Producers Council will be
hosting the third Keystone
Pork Congress here on
February 19 at the Host
Farm Resort.
Pork producers from
around the Keystone State
will hear from various ex
perts in the hog industry on
key topics
Pennsylvania Department
of Agriculture's Max A Van
Buskirk, Jr , V M D will be
on hand to talk to producers
about the status of
pseudorabies in the Com
monwealth,
James Yergler, president
of Heinhold Hog and Cattle
Markets. Inc of Indiana will
travel east to talk to the
Congress participants about
Ohio State’s Dennis Henderson will tell pork
producers about the potential and performance of
electronic marketing during the 3rd Keystone Pork
Congress.
