More than 35 auctioneers
from across the state
traveled to Harrisburg to vie
for the honor of being chosen
Pennsylvania’s champion
caller for 1981.
Capturing this year’s
honor was Richard Moyer of
Spring City, Chester County.
His runner-up, who took

all persons competing in the
contest had to be Penn
sylvania licensed resident
auctioneers. He noted that
four women had signed up
for the competition.

scored by four judges on
appearance, microphone
ability, speaking ability and
salesmanship while auc
tioning an assortment of
hand tools, Anderson had
said.
“We chose hand tools,” he
said, “because they were
something that wouldn’t sell
