An FFA dairy herd project
participant, he owns 18 head
of registered Holstein cattle.
In FFA dairy shows, he
participated at regional and
state shows and won various
showmanship awards and
the grand championship at
the state show in 1979 His
activities have included
dairy judging, meat judging,
livestock judging, tractor
driving and shop work.
While an active member of
the Elizabethtown Chapter,
he served as assistant
reporter in 1977, reporter in
Steven Kauffman
1978 and president in his last
year He won the Chapter
Showmanship in 1978 and
dairy proficiency in 1979 and
1980
In 4-H, he was a member
of the Holstein Dairy Club
and held various offices
including vice president in
1980 He was a member of
the Dairy Judging Team for
three years and the Dairy
Bowl Team for one year.
He is a member of the
National Holstein
Association, Lancaster
County Junior Holstein Club
and the Congregational
Bible Church of Marietta
Under work experience, he
has participated in all
phases of field work,
equipment maintenance,
dairy herd feeding and care
AVERY COPENHAVER
Ephrata High School
Avery Copenhaver, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Perry
Copenhaver, Akron, was
selected as one of Lancaster
County’s Keystone Farmer
Degr°e recipients.
Avery has been a member
of the Cloister FFA Chapter
for four years. He also
traveled to the National FFA
Convention this year
“Since I was enrolled m
ag, I had a work experience
project working at Kisser’s
Poultry Inc. Also I raised
Avery Copenhaver
show hogs when I was in
Junior Ag club I also had a
work improvement project
helping my father remodel a
house.”
Avery says he enjoys
motorcycling, swimming,
hunting, trapping and
playing football For the
future he hopes to drive
truck for Kisser’s Poultry
Inc.
TIMOTHY HIGH
Ephrata High School
Timothy High, son of Mr
and Mrs Floyd High,
Ephrata, was selected as one
of Lancaster County’s
Keystone Farmer Degree
recipients.
Tim has been a member of
the Cloister FFA Chapter for
four years He has held the
offices of secretary and
president. Tim is also a
member of the Agricultural
Electrification team that
placed third at Springfield,
Mass.
In the past, Tun has
received the Red Rose
Degree, the Chapter Degree
and has attended the
National FFA Convention.
“Since I was in ninth grade
my projects have been five
acres of field com, 45 market
hogs, and 3/4 acre garden. I
also work on my father’s
poultry farm,” Tim said.
After graduation Tim
plans to work in an
agricultural related job
Scott Smith
SCOTT SMITH
Ephrata High School
Scott Alan Smith has
dreams of owning his own
farm someday. Although
that dream is not yet
realized, Scott has realized
the dream of earning the
Keystone FFA Degree
As the 17 year olci son of
Stanley and Christine Smith,
Scott is a member of the
Cloister FFA Chapter. His
FFA projects have included
raising four steers, 180
capons, 56 hogs, 1 sow and
maintaining a home garden.
He was on the local, state,
and national committee two
years and the executive
committee two years
Scott placed 18th m the
Penn State land judging
contest and has won several
poultry and diversified
livestock awards.
Scott attended the FFA
National Convention this
year along with his fellow
Cloister FFA members

Marvin Weiler
MARVIN WEILER
Ephrata Senior
High School
Marvin W. Weiler, the 17
year old son of Eh and Ellen
Weiler, Sievens, is looking
forward to working with his
father on the dairy farm
after graduation
As a member of the
Cloister FFA, Marvin has
had projects in dairy, veal
calves, capons and one acre
of field corn He also has
served on the Conduct of
Meetmgs and Scholarship
committees
Marvin was chapter
reporter and treasurer,
holding the Chapter and Red
Rose degrees. He has
received the Cham Calf and
Cham Capon awards
As a member of the dairy
judging team that placed
fourth at the State Summer
Convention at Perm State,
Marvin says he enjoys
showing dairy animals and
playing softball.
