According to Stan Martin,
inventor of the ventilation
system and the company’s
U.S. sales representative, he
began working on this type
of ventilation system about
12 years ago. He said his
experiences as a hog farmer
and later as a building
salesman showed him there
was a definite need for
improved ventilation in
conf mement housing.
In 1972, Martin said he
developed the system, but
the model he built then was
made out of metal.
“These models rusted and
tended to freeze because
there wasn’t enough in
sulation. So, in 1976, we
perfected the system and
switched over to structural
foam for the units,” he said.
Martin-Air was first in
troduced into the U.S. two
years ago, explained Martin.
He recalled how two farmers
from Algona, lowa heard
about the units being used in
Canada and came up to see
for themselves
“Those two farmers took
two units back to Algona,
and now we’ve sold over 300
