Pennsylvania beef cattle breeders, sheep and hog producers exhibited entries that caught the judges’ eyes. In the Open Chianma Show, Galen Dnebelbis, Nittany Farms, State College, took second place in percentage bull and female competition. His first red ribbon came with Blue Sky Olma/1150, a heifer calf bom March 6, 1980 And later, in the bull competition, VF Prospector CA/77644, an April 6, 1979 yearling per centage bull placed second The Reserve Grand Champion bull in the Open Charolais Show was exhibited by owner Walter E. Heistand of Manheun RCC Royal Jaguar, the first place Senior yearling bull was tagged Senior Champion before wearing the Reserve Champion’s banner The bull is co-owned with Royal Charolais Company, Greensburg Royal Charolais dominated the female classes m the Charolais show, with their reserve national grand champion female, RCC Royal Temp tress 2927, once again wearing the purple colors on her halter The first place spring yearling heifer was. the Senior Champion Female Royal Charolais also showed the first place senior heifer calf, RCC Royal Tempress 3076, who went on to be tagged Junior Champion Female They took second place with their winter heifer calf entry, RCC Royal Princess 3142, and placed first in the Two Females class In the bull classes, Royal Charolais took third place in the Senior Calf class with RCC Mr. Expectation 2123, and took the blue in the Two Bulls class. Enterprises, Ringgold, exhibited the Calf Champion, Riverwood Jupiter 2509. The September, 1979 bull was picked as the top Senior Bull calf during the competition. JC. En terprises also showed the first place spring yearling bull, J.C Justice The JC. Enterprises ribbons weren’t limited to the bull competition. Their junior heifer calf, JC Em press, and their small yearling heifer, Riverwood Jane 819, each took second place in their respective classes And the J.C En terprises spring yearling heifer, J C Della 912, placed third Their Pair of Calves entry ranked second to Royal Charolais. The Polled Hereford competition also found Pennsylvania exhibitors in the money The Reserve Grand Chamn'on Bull honors went to Y-l' ot Farm & 4K Cattle Co , Smicksburg Their July 26, 1979 yearling bull, Walking Tall, strode to the top of his class and on to the Junior Champion honors before takmg the Reserve Grand banner Y-Not Farm & 4K Cattle Co. took a red ribbon with this year’s January bull calf, Enticer Falkland Farms, Schellsburg, brought home a number of ribbons from the Kentucky show They exhibited the Reserve Junior Champion bull, FLF En forcer 9031 and took a first and a second in the bull competition with FLF En forcer 9014 and Mohican TP Macho, respectively. In the Get-of-Sire and Calf-Get-of- Sire competition, Falkland Farms took third place, and they took second in Best Six Head. Together with Graystone Farm, Whip-OWill Farm, and Otha Grimes, Falkland Farms also exhibitied the Senior Champion, a two year-old Another Pennsylvania Polled Hereford breeder, Stockdale Hereford Farm, Dayton, placed second with their yearling bull, DS Banner Beef In the Polled Hereford TATAMY, PA Female competition, Falkland Farms was a strong contender FLF Forcette 9002, calved January 1979, walked to the top of the line in her class and went on to be tagged Senior Champion A red ribbon was pinned on FLF Forcette 8216, calved December 7, 1978 Two third place ribbons were awarded to FLF Forcette 0930, a March 1980 heifer, and FLF Forcette 9162, a last year’s May calf. One more Pennsylvania breeder brought home honors from the Polled Hereford show. Five Point Pastures, Greensburg, placed first with their March, 1979 heifer, FPP Vindi Kate 46L In the sheep competition, most of the Pennsylvania exhibitors that achieved top honors were Juniors However, Calvert Farm ot Spragg took third place in the Open Cheviot Show with their yearling ewe entry. Three Lancaster County Juniors captured a number of trophies and ribbons with their sheep entries In the Junior Hampshire Show, Sarah Lynn Brubaker, Lancaster, took second place with both her yearling and senior ewe entries.
