cuts of meat as well as place
classes of beef, pork and
lamb carcasses.
Bill Kirk, a sophomore of

captured first.

Beam, a senior of Twin
Valley and son of Mr. and
Mrs. Omar Beam m second
place.
Don Kersher, son of Mrs.
Mary Kersher, and Pam
Trostle, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Ronald Trostle, both
sophomores, placed sixth
and seventh respectively.
Junior Tom Homberger, son
of Mrs. Sandy Homberger,
placed sixteenth.
The team which consisted
of Bill, Nelson, and Don also
captured first place.
In the Dairy Foods contest
the contestants had to
sample milk, identify ten
kinds of cheese and defects
in cottage cheese and they
also had to take a written
test on milk and dairy
products.
Placing first was Kevin
Gnest, a sophomore of Twin
Valley and son of Mr. and
Mrs. Howard Gnest Jr.
Jack Metcalf, son of
Forrest Tolley, and Dee
McDermott, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph Mc-
Dermott, both freshmen,
placed third and fourth,
respectively. In seventh
place was Chuck Reiff, a
freshman and son of Mr. and
Mrs. William Reiff.
Other Twin Valley con
testants was Dwight Houck
placing fourteenth and Jim
Deshong placing twenty
seventh. The team of Kevin,
Jeff, and Dee also took first.
In the horse judging
contest, students had to
judge a class of mares and
one of geldings, to identify 23
pieces of tack and to take a
written test.
Placing first was Brenda
Werner, sophomore and
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Werner.
Following Brenda was
junior Diane Stoltzfus,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Houck.

Genie Fultz, freshman. The
team also captured first
place.
In the agronomy contest,
members had to identify
weeds, crops, insects, and
diseases; also a class of hay
was judged and a test was
given on soil and forage
question. Semor Kim Noyes,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Edward Noyes, placed third
with semor Mike Ott, son of
Mr. David Ott, in fifth place.
In twelfth place was junior
Scott Stoltzfus, son of Mr.
and Mrs. J. Wilmer Stoltz
fus. The team also captured
second place.
In the agricultural
mechanics contests the
contestants had to take a
written test and solve
problems in welding, small
engmes, and wiring.
Duane Aulenbach,
sophomore and son of Mr.
and Mrs. William Aulen
back, took third place with
senior Jeff Wolfe, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas Wolfe
captured tenth place. Also
Butch Himes, a freshman,
placed twelfth. The team
also captured third place.
In dairy cattle judging
competition, 110 members
from 12 chapters competed
for honors. Each member
placed cattle m 4 classes and
took a written test on dairy.
Tun Kurtz, semor and son
of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Kurtz
captured first place with
senior Don Stoltzfus, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey W.
Stoltzfus in fifth. Other Twin
Valley students who did well
were Bertha Zerr m
seventeenth place and Greg
Baser in twenth-fourth
place, both sophomores. In
team competition, the Twin
Valley team of Tim, Don,
and Bertha placed second.
