Women honored
at Grange meeting
CEDAR RAPIDS, la. -
Hundreds of Grange
members from all across the
country attended a banquet
at the Stouffer’s Five
Seasons Hotel to honor the
achievements of Grange
women during the past year.
The Grange is holding its
114th annual session in
Cedar Rapids this week.
Mrs Mary Buffington of
Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania,
Director of Women’s Ac
tivities, described the results
of this year’s participation in
women’s activities as
“overwhelming.” Nearly a
quarter of a million women
belong to the Grange. It has
long been known as the first
organization m the country
to give women an equal vote
with men, when it was first
organized m 1867.
Mrs Mane Thelen of St.
Johns, Michigan, was
selected State Grange
Director of the Year. Mrs
Thelen is also a member of
the National Grange’s
Women’s Activities Ad
visory Committee
Mrs. Leslie Rivard,
Games, Michigan, took Best

Inc. recognized Mrs. Helen

Grand Prize Winner m their
national cranberry recipe
contest.
Mrs. Norma Jean King of
Seymour, Tennessee, took
top honors in the sewing
machine craft and home
decoration contest and was
awarded a trip for two to
Switzerland by the White
Sewing Machine Company.
