Community 4-H club held
their annual Achievement
night at the Codorus Church
of the Brethren.

National Association for
Milk Marketing Reform, a
trade association of small
dairy processors, last
Friday filed a motion to
intervene on a limited basis
to oppose the term of the
Consent Judgment proposed
by the Department of Justice
m settlement of its lawsuit to
block the merger of H.P
Hood, Inc., New England's
largest dairy into Agri-
Mark, the largest dairy co
op m the Area.
NAMMR’s motion was
filed in the United States
District Court in Vermont.
The move to intervene as
Amicus Curiae resulted
from the Department of
Justice’s refusal to drop its
Consent Proposal and its
Concrete

has headed the club for five
years. She was presented an
engraved silver tray and a

Linda Brown, former club
president and freshman at
rejection of NAMMR’s
request for a hearing.
NAMMR opposes the
Consent Settlement which it
believes will not protect
small dairies, small
cooperatives and many
farmers who will be forced
out of business
The District Court must
decide if the Consent
Judgment is in the pubhc
interest.
NAMMR asserted m its
motion that a hearing is
necessary for the Court to
receive additional evidence
for is determination.
NAMMR pointed out that the
Response of Justice filed last
week raised serious
questions of protection for
competitors and dairy
farmers.
