sylvania Processed Food
Products is being compiled
by the Department of
Agriculture’s Bureau of
Marketing.
Agriculture Secretary
Penrose Hallowell said the
Buyer’s Guide would be
aimed at providing Penn
sylvania wholesalers and
retailers with accurate, up
to-date information on the
sources and availability of
Pennsylvania-processed fo
ods.
He said, “The Buyer’s

According to Clair Witwer,
Pequea Valley vo-ag in

tune to calculate due to the
large number of contestants
in the contest (over 500).

Guide is another phase of the
Departmeht’s initiatives at
economic development in
Pennsylvania. The ‘Penn
sylvania Agriculture - We’re
Growing Better’ campaign is
achieving success, and we
felt that a buyer’s guide to
Pennsylvania processed
food products would further
stimulate the economy while
helping smooth out some
problems in the food
marketing chain.

Buyer’s Guide should be
available to processed food
product buyers in the spring
of 1981.
“More than 800 retail
supermarkets and grocery
stores are already using the
Pennsylvania Agriculture
logo, and about 50 processors
and producers,” Hallowell
said. “Our hope is that this
Buyer’s Guide will provide
food retailers with the in
formation necessary to
increase the sales of these
Pennsylvania-processed
foods, and to support
agriculture which is the
second leading industry m
the Commonwealth.
