ville, Ohio, was named Star
Farmer of America, and
Jack Baber, Jr., 19, Colusa,
California, who cooperates
in a nee drying and storage
operation, was named Star
Agribusinessman of
America
These Stars Over America
are the best in production
agriculture and agnbusmess
of the 783 men and women
who received the American
Farmer degree.
Six young people were
chosen to serve the FFA
organization as national
officers for the coming year.
Mark Herndon, 20 of
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma,
was elected National bFA
President and Robert Quick,
20, of Bement, Illinois, is the
new National Secretary.
David • Pearce, 20,
Warrensburg, Missouri;
Susie Barrett, 20 Vincent,
Ohio; Glenn Caves, 20,
Laurel, Mississippi, and
David Alders, 19, of
Nacogdoches, Texas, were
named vice presidents of the
Central, Eastern, Southern
and Western Regions
respectively.
David Steakley, 18, of
Grandview Texas won the
50th national FFA prepared
public speaking contest. He
spoke on “The Challenge of
Our Age - World Starvation
and Malnutrition.”
Ron Winemger, 17,
Marion, Kansas won the
extemporaneous speaking
contest with the topic
“Effective Management in
Agribusiness.”
Arlen Keener (far left), E-town, was a runner up in the national dairy
production contest at the FFA convention, representing the eastern region. The
other members are Jeff Schnipkoweit, John Darnall and Bruce Tillman.

Vocational Agriculture Instructor met (far left to right) H. Alan Brock, Deputy

Group Vice President of Del Monte Corporation, at the 10th Annual BOAC
Awards Banquet held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel during the National FFA
Convention. The chapter was presented the new BOAC meda kit recently
developed and distributed through the cooperation of R. J. Reynolds Industries.
