NAILE posts Open Natl Dairy champs LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The seventh annual North American International Livestock Exposition got underway on November 8 at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center here in Louisville. Exhibitors from far and wide unloaded their best dairy cattle to compete in the Open Dairy Show. The grand champion Holstein bull was exhibited by Bonanza, of RidgeviUe, Indiana. The bull, Creek-A- Lee Peacemaker, placed first in his class of yearlings before being tagged grand champion. She was exhibited by Quietcove Holstein Farm, Wapakoneta, Ohio. Following her in the Aged Cow class and as reserve Senior champion was the entry of Ransdell Dairy, Salvisa, Kentucky. V The Grand Champion Female Award was won by Meander Evening Out, a rune-year-old cow, owned and shown by Sand Rock Farm, Rocky Ridge, Maryland. The reserve champion female of the Brown Swiss Show was Mayfair Gusty Sma Sue, a 7-year-old cow, shown by Susan Cone, Salem, Illinois. Bob Griggs of Mustang, Oklahoma, had to be a happy man at the conclusion of the National Guernsey Show. Gngg’s cow earned off honors for premier breeder, premier exhibitor and exhibitor’s herd. In addition, his Circleview Danmost Maisy, a nine-year-old cow, won the Reserve Grand Champion Female honors and was second place as best uddered cow. For exhibitor’s herd Griggs had to shew five cows, two which had calved, two which had not and a fifth cow of any age; three of the cows had to be bred by him and all had to have been owned by him. Their four-year-old Jersey cow, Echo Brook Samare’s Noreen, followed up her junior show wm by taking the Grand Champion Female title in the All American Jersey Show. Although the dairy portion of the gigantic North American International Livestock Exposition was winding down after several event-filled days, the Ayr shire Show did not lose momentum. Over 100 Ayrshires paraded around the showring during the show which offered $5OOO in premiums and awards. Judging the event was Fred Foreman. Emerging as the grand champion female of the Ayrshire Show was a four year-old cow, Barragars Violets Daisy, owned by Marcia Barrager, Oswego, Kansas. The reserve champion female, Tip-Ayr Super Starprim, was a three-year old cow, owned by Tip-Ayr Farm, Girard, Kansas. The Grand Champion Bull honors were taken by Shiredale Pacemaker Victor, a yearling bull, owned by Shiredale Farm, Ada, Ohio. Receiving the Premier Breeders Award at the Ayrshire Show was Tip-Ayr Farm, Girard, Kansas. Tip- Ayr also received the Premier Exhibitor Award.
