Ken and Joanne Hershey

continuous family operation
dates back to 1792.

purchased from a William
Morrison, of New Hamp
shire, by Jacob Hershey,
who moved to Lancaster
County from Derry Town
ship in Dauphin County,”
Ken Hershey explained

totaled 218 acres, which was
later divided into three
farms for the sons of Jacob
Our farm was part of this
original purchase. ’ ’
And there are some other
Hershey ties between the
Kmzers area and Dauphin
County Milton Hershey, who
went on to pursue quite a
career in the field ot candy
manufacturing, was born on
one of the original neigh
boring farms. Also, he
originally worked in a print
shop nearby before running
the owner’s hat through a
press and moving on to
launch his career first in
