All-American rodeo finals to ride in Harrisburg
HARRISBURG - Four
Pennsylvanians will be
among many contestants
from across the nation
competing in the 1980
American Rodeo Finals,
November 15 and 16 at the
Farm Show Complex in
Harrisburg.
The nation’s top ten in
dividuals from each rodeo
division will compete for
over $35,000 in prizes in such
events as bull riding,
bareback and saddle bronc
riding, steer wrestling, calf
York County crops show to run Tuesday
DOVER The Dover
Young Fanners will hold
their third York County
crops improvement show on
Tuesday evening, November
11, beginning at 7 p.m. in the
Dover High School cafeteria.
While the show originally
began as a Young Fanner
class event, it has generated
such wide interest that
advisor Bill Fleet turned the
exhibit into a county wide
educational competition.
Classes include a variety
of crops: all cuttings of

cents a pound at the New Holland Sales Stables on Thursday, October 30. The
one on the left weighed in at 2460 pounds while the one on the right weighed
2700. They were sold to a packing company in North Carolina.

plication. Apply in fall. Soil Treatment is better and cheaper
than chiseling, and BX cuts your fertilizer bill in half, some
report much more, because it gets much nitrogen out of the
air and makes other nutrients available that were locked in.
Watch for a meeting notice in the next issues,
probably on the 24th.

Another Pennsylvanian,
Joe Crawford of Bloom
sburg, Columbia County,
will compete in the bull
riding event, while Tammy
Rhineer of Willow Street,
Lancaster County, will be a
clover, and timothy-clover
mixtures: first and second
cuttings of grasses with not
more than ten percent
legume content; all cuttings
of alfalfa-grass mix and
straight alfalfa hay;
haylage; com silage; high
moisture shelled com and
ear com; ear com; and
grams including rye, wheat,
oats, barley and soybeans.

Still another state
resident, Harold Musselman
of Dillsburg, York County,
will compete in the calf
roping event.
Scores compiled by each
contestant during the two
shows, held at 8 p.m.
Saturday and 2:30 p.m.
Sunday, will be averaged to
decide the top four winners
in each event.
This year’s Miss Rodeo
Pennsylvania will present
com; ten ears of com en
tries; four quarts small
grains and soybean entries.
A fifty-cent fee will be
charged for each entry.
Grand champion winners
in the various categories will
receive plaques and ribbons
will be presented to the first
five places in each division.
Approximately 20
agribusinesses will set up
exhibits at the show, with
many company represen
tatives expected to be on
hand. A large variety of door
awards and prizes such as
engraved saddles, gold and
silver buckles, boots and
hats to the winners. The all
around cowboy and all
around cowgirl will also be
selected at the conclusion of v
the American Rodeo finals.

purchased at the Farm Show
Ticket gate Monday through
Friday beginning November
5 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ticket
prices are: Box, $6.50;
reserved, $5.50; and General
prizes will be awarded and
refreshments will be
provided.
