C24—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, November 8,1980 Lancaster Farm Women hold convention BY SALLY BAIR Staff Correspondent LANCASTER - Over 400 members of Lancaster County’s Farm Women Societies gathered for their annual convention last Saturday at the Farm and Home Center. County President Opal Ruhl presented a check for $2,610 to Hospice of Lan caster County which had been selected as the county project by the 33 Societies. In accenting the check, June Kastner, administrative assistant for Hospice, said, “I can’t thank you enough. It is very generous and I really appreciate it. I am very moved.” Mrs. Kaster said, “Hospice is working beautifully.” Hospice was created to offer supportive services to families so they can care for terminally ill patients in their own home. They work with the patients by encouraging them to take control of their lives and they work m controlling pain. Weekly, Hospice has between eight or nine patients in its care. Mrs. William Hanush, Lancaster, was elected county secretary, and Mrs. Robert Esbenshade, Paradise, was elected county treasurer. Mrs. Hanush is a member of Society 28 and Mrs. Esbenshade is a member of Society 14. Both will serve two year terms. Dawn Sangrey, a free lance wnter from Bedford Hills, N.Y., was the guest speaker and discussed research she is gathering for a book on women and marriage in the upcoming decade. Sangrey, who was bom in Lancaster County and has relatives here, said that m interviews for her book she went in search of “an or dinary woman and found there is no such animal.
