Clf—Lancaster Fannins, Saterday, November 1,1980 Seconds decide winner HARRISBURG - The Pennsylvania National Horse Show climaxed its nine-day equestrian ex travaganza on Saturday evening with the $lO,OOO Grand Prix de Penn National. Winning this difficult, tuned jumping event was Buddy Brown aboard Viscount, a part Thoroughbred, part Fren chbred jumper owned by the U.S. Equestrian team. Brown and Viscount traveled across the course of 16 obstacles in the first round Lancaster County’s Jean Ramsay racks off aboard champion American Saddlebred, Grand Larceny. The pair will be competing in November at Madison Square Gardens, New York. of Grand Prix de Penn National of jumping with no faults. Seven horses jumped off against the clock in the second round. Harry Deleyer rode Dutch Crown to a clean per formance in a time of 24.891 seconds over the short course of six jumps setting the pace for the rest of the field. None of the horses seemed to be able to match the Galloping Grandfather’s round until Brown guided Viscount around the course. As the pair approached the final jump, the crowd began to cheer them on. Respon ding to the urge to move, Viscount cleared the final hurdle and galloped across the finish in a time of 24.819 seconds. Brown and Viscount had won the prestigious event by .0/2 seconds. The Open Jumper Championship was awarded to Dutch Crown and Harry Deleyer for the second tune. The pair bad been selected as champion in 1978 and now again this year. The reserve champion was Viscount and Buddy Brown. Deleyer, who hails from East Hampton, New York, was named Leading Rider for Open Jumping. Always a crowd favorite, Deleyer tipped his hat his trademark for a clean round and exited Penn National’s jumping com petition as ‘king’ once again. Lancaster County’s Jean Ramsay and her Five- Gaited American Sad dlebred gelding, Grand Larceny, were pinned for the championship in the Amateur Five-Gaited Saddle Horse Stake on Saturday evening.
