Penn National,
Saddle at the Sussex County,
N.J. show, along with
Champion of the ESHBA
Breeders Class. At a show in
Syracuse, N.Y., the mare
beat the world champion in
the Ladies Driving Class, but
later stood as reserve
champion to her.
The numerous shows and
multitude of ribbons and
trophies won by Melanie
Lipensky keep the Senior at
Cedar Crest High School
busy saddlesoaping and
polishing. She said she hopes
to be able to continue her
work with horses after
graduating from high school
and attending nursing
school.
Two other Lebanon sisters
competed and placed during
the Penn National’s
American Saddlebred show.
Pam and Jenny Wunderlich
both brought home ribbons.
On Wednesday, Jenny
Wunderlich, 15, placed fifth
in Three-Gaited Three-Year-
Old Classic aboard
Starheart s Hoosier Spirit.
And on Thursday, Pam, 22,
also placed fifth in her
Ladies Three-Gaited Horse
Gass on Genius Jane.
In addition to their two
winning mounts, the Wun
derhchs have two more
Saddlebreds. Besides a 2-
year-old that’s being
trained, they also keep a
brood mare, Anacacho’s
Encore, in foal to Lucky’s
Decision
Pam, who is a part-time
student at Millersville State
College, rode Genius Jane to
a championship in the
BranchviUe, N.J. Open 3-
Gaited Show, and to a
research championship at
the Quentin Fall Show
earlier this year.
Pam said she hopes to
continue her showing career
with horses after she
graduates with her degree in
Biology. She gets first hand
experience in horse health
care through her part-time
job with Dr. George Heisey,
Avon Animal Clinic.
In the pony competition,
the Sweigarts of Denver
brought numerous ribbons
home to their Mt. View Pony
Farm.
The Sweigart’s first blue
ribbon came on Thursday
evening with Joy’s Yankee
Man coming m first in the
Hackney Pony Amateur
Lady class. Wildfire was
once again pinned on
Thursday evening, taking a
fourth in the Harness Pony
Amateur Gentlemen Class
with Galen Sweigart driving.
A second place ribbon
rounded out their evening,
with Mt. Views Raindrop
being pinned in the Amateur
