She was sponsored by the Washington County Sheep and Wool Growers Association. Only minutes after Charla When we picked a day to go to the Bloomsburg Fair, we picked an unusual day. It happened “to be the first rainy day in months. But it was just a gentle drizzle and didn’t bother us that much. However we did lose a wheel cover from our car. It was one that had flown off in West Virginia and many places in Lancaster County as well. One day I heard it roll and finally found it 30 feet in a cornfield, twice we returned to roads where it might have come off and we found it. This time, after searching a steep wooded area with a dump site nearby, we finally had to admit it was permanently lost. We did find one to another make of car though as we walked around in the ram. We praticularly enjoyed the horse and pony contests between the children. The keyhole race and carrying an egg on a spoon were in teresting. As they raced around the ring many fancy white hats fell to the ground. We sat beside a couple who said they were from Harrisburg when we ate our dinner, which was served by a church group. As they say, it is a small world. There were some unusual things displayed in the Horticulture Building. There were rows of rainbow colored bottles containing different juices. Some of the uncommon ones were parsley juice, violet juice, rhubarb juice, currant juice and rose syrup. I was sur prised to see trumpet vine seed pods_ displayed on a white plate. One things that 1 couldn’t understand was why someone would want to can white potatoes unless it was just to add to the variety of vegetables shown. As we traveled home through the mountains, we got a glimpse of the sun and stopped to buy some apples and grapes. Now I have basket of Jonathan and a basket of Mclntosh on the back porch bench.
