Strauss brothers capture swine awards
MANHEIM Rick and
Steve Strauss received
awards for grand champion
market hog and reserve
champion, respectively, at
the Manheim Farm Show’s
swine judging, Monday,
Octobers.
Steve continues his win
ning streak, having recently
taken the reserve champion
Junior Barrow honors at
Keystone International
Livestock Exposition.

Lancaster to hold
cattle feeders’ tour
LANCASTER Reser
vations are needed by this
coming Friday, October 17,
for the Lancaster County
cattle feeders’ tour.
The tour is scheduled for
Tuesday, October 21, and is
open to all cattlemen and
farm business represen
tatives.
A fee of |5 per person must
be paid when the reser
vations are made.
There is room for 94 people
on tiie trip. Reservations will
be made on a first come,
first served basis.
The tour will leave from
the Farm and Home Center
in Lancaster at 7:30 a.m.
Included on the adjenda is
a stop at the Moyer Packing
Plant in Souderton. where
farmers will see the new
slaughter plant.
Also on the trip plan are a
stop at the Harry Eyrich
farm, Oley; and at the
Robert Heffner feedlot,
Fleetwood.

harvesting 1000 acres of corn
for the herd.
His Berks County neighbor
has 400 head of cattle. He has
a central feed center for four
farms. About 600 acres of
corn are grown at the Heff
ner operation.

being back at the Farm and
Home Center between 5:30
and 6 p.m.
