an outstanding record in 4-H
work, today was named
state sheep contest winner in
the 1980 4-H National Awards
Program.
The daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph R. Hixenbaugh,
she is a junior at the Beaver
Area High School. She has
been a 4-H member for five
years.

The state sheep contest
winner completed projects
in market lambs, breeding
sheep, veterinary science,
pet care, gardening, and
teen leadership.
Locally, she took part in
the 4-H picmc, sheep field
day, fair, roundup, and
achievement banquet.
Kathy also participated in
the Tri-County Wool Queen
Contest where she was
crowned queen, Regional
Wool Judging Contest,
Keystone International
Livestock Exposition, 4-H
Exchange Program, and
Farm Show.
Commenting on the values
of the educational youth
program, Kathy said:
“Traveling and meetmg 4-H
friends has added to my
growth. It also has taught
me many skills.”

Agricultural Careers
Scholarship in the 1980 4-H
National Awards Program.
The daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Kotch, she is a
freshman at Penn State
majoring in animal
bioscience. She has been a 4-
H member for nine years.
