The site of the field day, 55 acres of farm and forestland off Snouffers School Road in Gaithersburg, was donated to the Sligo chapter by the iate Lois Green. A retired District of Columbia school teacher and conservationist, Mrs. Green deeded an adjoining 220 acres to the county’s park and planning commission. Her home, situated on the P&P parcel, predates 1800 and has handsplit ceiling beams. According to a local historian, the stone used in the basement had been ship’s balace. Workman said Herr has entered nine head of Southdown sheep for com petition at the North American International, an event which will take place during November 8-22 in Louisville, Kentucky. The NAILE will be held at the Kentucky Fair and Ex position Center. The North American In ternational Livestock Ex position is entering its seventh consecutive year this season, and those who compete will vie for more than $250,000 in total premiums and awards.
