Society 4 The Barks County Society of Farm Women 4, met at the home of Mrs. Mamie Hafer, Oley Rd. in September for their regular monthly meeting. Mrs. Evelyn Becker, Kutetown, Pa. was cohostess. Mrs. Kay Youse of Boyertown R 3, gave an exhibition of Belly dancing which was most interesting. The eight members, and one guest, Mrs. Charlotte Mauger, Becfatelsville, Pa. answered the Question - “What is your exercise routine.” The monthly Newsletter from Hamburg State School was read, also, a list of contest winners from Ocean Spray Cranberry Co. Eight members will attend the tenth Anniversary of Society 9 on September 17. Nine members will attend the County Convention on October 4, at the Agricultural Center in Bemville. The October 6 meeting, twill be held at the home of Mrs. Verna Taylor, Boyertown, R 3. Cumberland Co. Society 4 The regular monthly meeting of Cumberland County Society of Farm Women 10 was held Sep tember 18 at the home of Mrs. Nan Clugston, Newville R 2. Devotions, led by Mrs. Margaret Smith, were followed by the Lord’s Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call was answered by 10 members giving a safety hint. The business meeting was in the charge of the president, Mrs. Gertrude Staver. Officers were elected for 1981: President, Mrs. Bemita Gilbert; Vice President, Mrs. Marie Myers; Corresponding Secretary, Mrs. Dorine Barnhart; Kecording Secretary, Mrs Mary Ann Hershey; and Treasurer, Mrs. Margaret Smith. The program was on safety. Mrs. Maxine Strohm gave some hints on wood burning stoves and distributed literature on safety in using them. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Bernita Gilbert, Ship pensburg Rl, on October 16 at 7:90 pan. Lancaster Co. Society 4 Lancaster County Society of Farm Women 4 met on September 27 at the home of Mrs. Eva Gingrich. Twenty seven persons attended. Mrs. Gingrich and her co hostess, Mrs. Maud Mohler, served refreshments during the social hour. Mrs. Carl Siegrist presided at the business meeting which followed. Devotions were led by Mrs. Mary Reapsome. Roll call was answwered by naming a favorite school teacher. Guests introduced were: John Gingrich, Elizabeth Robinson, and Hazel Crankshaw. A bus trip to the Poconos is scheduled for Saturday, October 4. The bus will leave from the rear parking lot of Mountville Elementary School at 6:15 a.m. Children from the Messiah Home in Florin will be en tertained by the ladies with an old-fashioned “doggie roast” at the Ironville Band Hall on October 7 at 5 p.m. On October 16, the group is scheduled to visit Conestoga' View. A by-law committee chaired by Mrs. E. Robert Nolt presented a set of revised by-laws to be voted ’ upon next month by mem bers. The nominating com mittee, led by Mrs. Edwin Yesglin presented a slate of officers to be voted upon at tiie next meeting: president, Mrs. Charles Shellenberger; vice-president, Miss Alice Marie Nissley; secretory, Mrs. Henry Reist; treasurer, Mrs. Robert Garber; convention delegates, Mrs. Cyrus Gamble and Mrs. John Mellinger; alternate delegate, Mrs. Richard King. Guest speaker was Miss Mary Holbrook, of New Holland Fanners National Bank. Her topic 'was “Wills.” She was assisted by John Beatly, also of the New Holland Bank, in the question and answer period following her talk. The next meeting of Society 4 will be held at the home of Mrs. Anna Camp bell of Red Bud Drive in Millersville on October 25.
