worst droughts we’ve faced
in 20 years.”
The Montgomery County
dairy farmer noted the
drought was not yet over,
and there is no guarantee it
will soon end.
Wismer asked that if it did
continue, the Milk
Marketing Board might
consider temporarily in
creasing milk producer
prices to compensate for lost
profits from corn and other
roughage production.

at the milk hearing included
a commendation to the Milk
Marketing Board, and a
suggestion to change the
pricing formula.
His commendation was
directed at the Board for
“using the Federal Order
No. 4 prices to establish
minimum producer prices”
in the Area.
“We believe this pricing ’
method' to be the' best ,
available at this time,”

National Milk Producers
Federation recently
questioned the accuracy of
the Minnesota-Wisconsin
Pricing Formula, in light of
today’s economy.
“IThe problem with the
formula is that the number
of condensaries since the
formula’s drafting has been
greatly reduced. This brings -
to light some questions
concerning the accuracy of
the prices derived from it,”
he said.
He did' not offer any
alternatives to the present
pricing formula, saying the
matter would be under
consideration- by the State
Grange Dairy Committee.
