Gilmores take grands WRIGHTSVILLE - A brother and sister team exhibited the grand and reserve grand champion heifer at this year’s North east Region Chianina Field Day, held recently here at Lauxmont Farms. Brady Gilmore and his sister Sherri tied up the heifer championships, with Brady capturing the grand • and Sherri coming in with the reserve grand. During the steer com petition, Sherri rallied and took home another reserve grand championship trophy for her entry. Gorden Smith, of Landenberg, exhibited the grand champion steer. Another pair of siblings received championship trophies for their out standing showmanship abilities. Diane and Deborah Krause, sisters from Lehigh County, placed first in the 17. years and older division and 13 years and under division, respectively. Christine Shive, from York County, received the champion showmanship award for the 14 to 16 year old division. The York County judging teams swept first and second places in the contest for teams. In the Junior judging contest, Kim Hopple was the top scoring individual. Harold Haas placed first in the Men’s judging contest. While Donna Moore was the first place contestant in the Ladies judging competition. Over 700 people par ticipated in die Field Day held at beautiful Lauxmont Farms, with contestants and entries representing New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and Penn sylvania.
