COTTAGE EGG SPREAD
Vh. cups small curd cream-style cottage cheese, well
drained
1 teaspoon salt
Vz teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
V 4 teaspoon pepper
Vt teaspoon dry mustard
4-6 drops hot pepper sauce
8 hard-cooked eggs, chopped
Combine in a medium bowl with seasonings, stirring
until blended. Stir in eggs. Cover and chill several hours
or overnight to blend flavors. For brown bagging, tote the
spread m a small thermal jar and spread on the bread just
before serving.
HONEY SANDWICH SPREAD
% cup peanut butter
Vz cup nutmeats
Vz cup cut-up dates
enough honey to spread
Combine the ingredients and use as a sandwich filling
MOLASSES CRINKLES
3 A cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar

2 teaspoons soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon and ginger
4 tablespoons black strap molasses
2Vi cups flour
% teaspoon cloves
Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and molasses and
beat well. Add the sifted dry ingredients and mix
thoroughly. Chill dough and make 1 mch balls. Roll in
sugar. Bake at 350° F. for 12-15 minutes. Makes 4 dozen
cookies. Keep the cookies soft by placing in a tight con
tainer and adding V* of an unpeeled apple.

BROWNIE HONEY CAKE
% cup honey
x /z cup shortening
2 eggs
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
yz cup milk
V* cup pecans
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 tablespoons cocoa
Vz teaspoon salt
Cream shortening and honey. Add eggs, one at a time.
Beat well and add sifted dry ingredients alternately with
the milk. Add other ingredients, pour into well greased
loaf pan, and bake for 30 minutes at 350°F.
PHILADELPHIA CREAM CHEESE
Take 1 gallon of buttermilk that has turned thick and
add 1 gallon of boiling water. Mix thoroughly and allow to
drip dry m a cheese cloth.
Meat loaf falls apart when it’s too moist. To have meat
loaf that slices well, add some crushed white crackers to
the meat loaf mixture. When removing the meat loaf from
the oven, allow it to stand for 10-15 minutes to firm up.

1 Vs cups sifted confectioners sugar
Vs teaspoon salt
34 egg yolks, or 1 large egg
4 tablespoons milk
4 tablespoons soft shortening
3 squares chocolate, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla
Combine the ingredients in a bowl and place the bowl m
ice water. Beat together until the right consistency to
spread, 34 minutes. For a hobnail effect, twist the tip of a
spoon in the icing.
