here at the Farm Show
Complex
When the first leg of the
42nd annual sale finished up
early Thursday evening, the
Hanover consignment had
beaten the field of 314 head
and was the highest selling
yearling at $200,000.
The colt, toaled February
21, 1979, is sired by the
famous pacer. Albatross,
whose record stands at 154
3/5 minutes. His dam,
Adorna Hanover, is also a
pacer with a record of 1 57
According to Hanover’s
foreman, Edward Miller,
about 65 percent of the two
year-old Albatross colts and
fillies have finished their
first track season with
records of 2 00 mmutes or
less.
This, plus the colt’s an
cestory which includes the
popular stud Meadow
Skipper and the infamous
Tar Heel, account for the
colt’s $2 grand price tag.
Seven other yearlings left
the sale arena wearing price
tags of $lOO,OOO or more
Included in this elite group
were two other Albatross
foals Blanche Hanover, a
bay filly, brought $120,000
while her pasture mate
Ranida Hanover, also a bay
filly, came m at $llO,OOO.
Two Meadow Skipper foals
also topped the $lOO,OOO
mark. A brown colt, Gimbel
Hanover, left the sales arena
when bidding stopped at
