m the Commonwealth during
the week ending August 30
were 2,237,000, according to
the Pennsylvania Crop
Reporting Service.
The placements were four
percent above the
corresponding week a
year earlier and three
percent above the previous
week. Average placements
during the past nine weeks
were slightly below a year
earlier.

price increased 20 cents
from the previous month
while the butterfat dif
ferential was up six tenths of
a cent.
These class prices are
based on the August 1980
Mmnesota-Wisconsm man
ufacturing milk price of
$11.86 per hundredweight
adjusted to a 3.5 percent
butterfat content.
The USDA reported that
the wholesale price of Grade
A butter at Chicago for
August was $1.4446 per
pound and the nonfat dry
milk price was $.8917 per
pound, f.o.b. plants in the
Chicago area.

were 73,072,000, three per
cent above the previous
week but four percent below
the same week a year
earlier. Average placements
during the past nine weeks
were four percent below a
year ago.
Broiler-fryers slaughtered
in Pennsylvania under
