The event was started in 1950 by Ray W. Reitz, who as county extension agent continues to oversee the event. Diane Sheckler of Palmerton showed the grand champion hog of the show. Her 210-pound Dorac brought $2.00 per pound at the sale. Steve Miller showed the reserve champion. Diane Miller had the grand champion ewe and Scott Seltzer had the reserve champion. Grand champion dairy animal went to Randy Miller and his Brown Swiss. Other winners in the hog show were: lightweight - Steve Miller; middleweight - Diane Sheckler; heavyweight - Michael Miller; fitting and showing - Robin Cressley and Marla Gower.
