Food dryers

big savings you will realize on dried food, be sure to calculate how long it will
take to save the purchase price of the food dryer.
This food dryer built from a model at Ag Progress Days, is an inexpensive
styrofoam chest with a lightbulb as the heat source. The chest is lined with
aiumnium foil to reflect the heat, and screen is inserted in the top of the chest,
with the food placed on the screen. A board wedged crosswise supports the
screen. The chest is perforated with inch round holes at approximately 6
separate places, and the lid is placed over the chest. For instructions, ask for
Penn State circular entitled Styrofoam Foam Food Cooler for Drying Food. Also
available is a paper entitled Drying Vegetables.
