The children are back in
school and many a household
will have a change in their
summer routine.
I’ve always felt a bit sad
when they all leave for
school. Even when I had four
or five going to public school,
I wasn’t glad to be nd of
them. One reasons could
have been that they were an
asset to us and helped with
all the work on our dairy
farm and they were a
pleasure to have around.
Speaking of work, I’m sure
that Philip who has returned
to Penn State for his third
year in agricultural
Engineering really will be
missed. Now my husband
will have the morning and
evening milking plus
finishing a small feed room
which is being built near the
new silo. However, they did
start filling the silos before
he left for college and
probably he will come home

He had to rent an apart
ment in May in order to have
one m September. This
means paying a year’s rent
but only living there for nine
months. When children go to
college they don’t just take
suitcases of clothes but also
boxes of miscellaneous
items, sports goods, plants,
bicycles and so much more.
It leaves an empty space in
the house - until they return.
I was flattered when he
asked me if I didn’t want to
come along and cook his
meals and do his laundry.
When they have to do their
own, then they begin to
appreciate ail the work that
goes into housekeeping. He
surely was a big eater and
I’ll have to learn to cook less
if I don’t want a lot of lef
tovers.
The telephone probably
