gone-busy, busy.
She has spent one week m
Washington, DC. at the
Citizenship Short Course,
four days at a Conference at
Millersville State College
and three trips to Penn State
for different events.
But Jet’s get to what is
known as 4-H Achievement

only completed the night
before as she typed up the
sheet explaining her 20
rocks. Then she baked her
Senior Food entry and also
30 cupcakes to donate the
following day. This work
lasted until past midnight
and she was up at 5 o’clock
the next morning to arrange
bouquets for her Flower
project.

had to go to band practice at
school from 8 to 12 o’clock.
However, she did ask off a
bit early m order to try and
pick out some vegetables for
yet another 4-H project.
Did you ever try to find 10
perfectly straight beans that
were exactly the same
length’ She had to sort
through a whole basket of
them. And five omons that
are quintuplets posed the
same problem. Vegetables
just don’t grow “perfect” m
size and shape.
She then dashed to Lan
caster after lunch to display
her things and also take
charge of a Mmi-Olympics
for which she and another

will demonstrate the
making of a binder twine
wreath.

meet at the home of Mary

agers to lead young children
in games all afternoon.
To top off the day, she had
to hurry home and change
into an evening gown as she
was a nominee for 4-H Senior
Queen. Her brother so
graciously offered to tend
the calves for her and even
so she had less than an hour
to eat, shower and get ready
to leave again.
She did not become Queen
but she did get eight awards
for achievement in different
areas and came home \nth
eight insulated travel mugs.
Enough to start
housekeeping, I teased her.
at Kegel’s at 1 p.m. and
tour the Hans Herr House
at 3 p.m.
Saturday, September 13
Lancaster Co. Society 19 will
meet at the home of Ruth
Martin. Gloria Althouse
will present a program on
crafts from nothing.
Lancaster Co. Society 25 will
hold their anniversary
banquet at the Conestoga
Wagon, Conestoga at 6:30
p.m.
