Nearly 1000 representatives
of the international fertilizer
community are expected at
the Fifth Annual World
Fertilizer Conference,
September 21-23,1960 in San
Francisco.
“Attendance and interest
in our conference has grown
each year,” said Ed
Wheeler, president, The
Fertilizer Institute, U.S.
industry association and
sponsor of the event. “This
year representatives from
more than 50 nations are
expected,” be added.
Speakers selected for the
meeting are authorities in
their areas of fertilizer and
food needs and will appear
on the program during the
mornings of September 22
and 23.

The annual global con
ference is the fifth sponsored
by the Institute, and the
second to be held in San
Francisco. Last year’s

Joins feed firm
BIRDSBORO - F.M.
Brown’s Sons, Inc. recently
announced the appointment
of Carl A. Brown as director
of feed sales.
Carl represents one of
several /members of the
fourth generation of Browns
directly involved in this
family operated feed
business. He is already
known to many Penn
sylvania Dairymen for his
previous work as a National
Holstein Program Director
in Pennsylvania during the
early 1970’5.
Brown, a Penn State
Graduate, received his
masters and Pb. D degrees
from Virginia Polytechnic
Institute and State
University. He has served on
the staff of this later in
stitution for the past five
years in both an extension
and teaching position.
During this period of time
he taught courses in animal
nutrition and dairy
management, conducted
research in the area of
computerized feeding of
dairy cows.
He coached numerous 4-H
and College dairy judging
teams including Virginia’s
1977 National Champion 4-H
Dairy Judging Team. He
also developed a statewide 4-
H/FFA Dairy Bowl contest
and a Regional Contest for
the East Coast which has
been highly successful.
As director of feed sales,
Brown will be heavily in
volved in working with
livestock producers in the
area of sales, service and
ration formulation.
He will work closely with
Walter Kennett, the com
pany nutritionist, to provide
customers with up to date
nutritional and management
information, and' high
quality feeds.
