Erma Miller’s recipe contribution goes together like
magic. It’s called Disappearing Marshmallow Bunnies,
and makes up in two shakes of a bunny’s tad. But right
now it’s hiding m our recipe column among other delicious
recipes sent to us by young readers. So why not hop to it
and try something new today 9 *'
Pull 1 section of banana peel back, but leave attached.
Scoop some of the pulp out of the banana. Add mar
shmallows and chocolate chips. Lay the banana peel back
over the marshmallows and chocolate chips. Wrap m
aluminum fod. Put on the grill untd marshmallows and
chips are melted.
DISAPPEARING MARSHMALLOW BUNNIES
Vz cup butterscotch bits
V* cup butter or margarine
% cup flour
% cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon baling powder
Vz teaspoon salt
Vz teaspoon vanilla

1 cup immature marshmallows
16-ounce package senai-sweet chocolate chips
V «cup chopped nuts
Melt all ingredients in a heavy 3-quart saucepan over
medium heat, stirring constantly Remove from heat and
cool to lukewarm. Lightly spoon flour into a measuring
cup. Level off. Add ingredients to butterscotch batter just
until combined, about 5 strokes. Spread in a greased pan.
Bake at 350° F. for 20-25 minutes. Do not overbake. Center
will be jiggly, but becomes firm upon cooling.

2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup sour milk
1 teaspoon soda
3 teaspoons baking powder
Vz teaspoon salt
Vz teaspoon nutmeg
2 tablespoons melted butter
5 cups flour
confectioners sugar
Beat eggs, and add sugar. Mix flour with baking powder
and salt. Add to the egg mixture Add sour milk with soda.
Roll out. Cut. Drop m deep hot fat, brown on both sides.
Roll m confectioners sugar.
GRASS ROOT DREAM COOKIES
% cup margarine
cup sugar
Vi. cup brown sugar

% teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
V* teaspoon soda
V* teaspoon salt
% cup rolled oats
1 cup com flakes
% cup coconut
Cream the margarine and sugars together. Add the egg
and vanilla and mix until smoth Sift flour, baking
powder, soda and salt together Add to the creamed
mixture Stir in rolled oats, com flakes and coconut. Drop
from teaspoons onto a hghtly greased cookie sheet Bake
at 350° F for 12-15 minutes. Makes 3 dozen cookies

3 cups red beet juice
4 cups sugar
1 large package raspberry flavored gelatin
1 package Sure Jel *
Boil the red beets and dram the juice. Put the red beet
juice, gelatin and Sure Jel in a kettle and bring to a boil.
Add the sugar and boil again Put the mixture in jars and
seal. Makes 3 pints

Vz cup shortening
1 teaspoon salt
2 beaten eggs
% cup boiling water
ya cup sugar
Vz cup milk
5-6 cups sifted flour
Dissolve the yeast in warm water Combine boiling
water and shortening. Add, sugar and salt - Stir until
lukewartn Blend m yeast, milk and eggs Gradually stir
m enough flour for easy handling. Knead until smooth
Place in a greased bowl. Tur.i over to grease the top
Cover and let rise in a warm place until double, about 1
hour. Turn dough on floured surface Roll to Vz inch
thickness. Cut m strips, any size Cover Let rise to double,
about 30 minutes Fry in deep fat at 375° F. Dram on ab
sorbent paper Dip in thin glaze
