Larry Shrawder attends FFA
WASHINGTON, D.C -
Larry Shrawder, President
of the Pennsylvania
Association of the Future
Farmers of America was
one of 100 State FFA Officers
who met Thursday morning
with President Jimmy
Carter.
The meeting at the White
House was a highlight of a
week-long State FFA
Presidents’ Conference m
the Nation’s Capitol The
conference, sponsored by
General Motors Corporation,
through the National FFA
Foundation, Inc., is designed
to help new state officers
lead more effectively by
expanding their knowledge
of the FFA and the Nation.
Larry is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. F. Lee Shrawder of
Kempton, Pa. He was
elected President of the
Pennsylvania FFA
Association at the 1980 State
Summer Convention at Penn
State.
A breakfast with
Congressmen preceded the
White House visit. More than
100 Senators and
Representatives or their
assitants. attended to visit
with the State Presidents
about national issues.
Speaking at the breakfast,
Secretary of the Department
of Education Shirley M.
Hufstedler said, “It is
always a pleasure to address
the future-minded because,
after all, the present
becomes the future each and
everyday.”
She said farming is “no
longer the kind of ‘in
dependence’ that it once
